Note: A minibus will be running shuttle from Highfield campus (where the safety bus usually is) to the Science Park from 18:45 to 19:30 and then as required until the end of the event when it will run shuttle again to get people back to campus.

Silicon Valley Comes to Southampton

The Silicon Valley Comes to UK Programme is an invitation only series of events that bring together leading investors, iconic serial entrepreneurs, ambitious students and successful angels from the UK with leading Silicon Valley Serial Entrepreneurs and Investors to discuss, debate, create and fund today's most disruptive internet and green technologies that will change our world in the years to come. The objective is to inspire students and alumni to consider starting or joining an entrepreneurial business at some point after graduation and to foster relationships between the leading entrepreneurs, angels and investors from Silicon Valley and Europe.

The Southampton regional Silicon Valley Comes to the UK event takes place on the evening of 18th November.

The evening is to be held at the University's Science Park north of the main Highfield campus and is focused on encouraging regional collaboration between organisations and individuals in the entrepreneurial spirit of Silicon Valley. 

There will be a heavy emphasis on networking and encouraging collaboration, with attendees including student entrepreneurs, investors, startup founders, established technology companies and the media.

Student startups, business ideas and appathon winner's videos will be displayed on the main screen to illustrate how entrepreneurial Fish on Toast members and Southampton students are.

As part of the event Fish on Toast will also be announcing their new student business support network, Fish Bowls, which helps early stage local startups get off the ground.  

There will also be a live video stream from the main Silicon Valley comes to the UK event in Cambridge, where entrepreneurs such as Reid Hoffman of Linkedin are speaking.

The final part of the evening will involve an ideas generation competition focused, naturally, around technology with an amazing prize for the winning table as well as the prestige of winning the inaugural Silicon Valley comes to Southampton competition.

The evening will involve much audience participation so be prepared to use Twitter hash tags: #SVC2Soton and #SVC2UK

In addition there will be break out rooms available, next to the main room, to facilitate further networking and collaboration. 

Transport to and from Highfield campus will be organised by Fish on Toast for students wishing to attend.
